"let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." -Hippocrates

Sounds like people had life all figured out way before we had public schools, health insurance, and membership cards for our local grocery stores... well, Hippocrates did anyway. I think it's pretty darn extraordinary how much food impacts everything we do, feel, and our mentality. Food is medicine, and it can help cure anything in my beliefs. I'm going to tell you what I've learned thus far so you can heal yourself the natural way instead of getting hooked on expensive prescriptions that could only add to high levels of stress already in your body and make the situation only worst later on. Check out my "sources" site for more websites!

Ginger:
  • soothing to your tummies. If you have a tummy-ache, make a juice or smoothie or energy bar with some raw ginger in it! (chamomile as well--tea time!)
  • it's an anti-inflammatory. I got a running injury 6 weeks ago and haven't been able to run at all- it's been terrible! But I've been trying to eat ginger everyday, and it seriously seems to be helping relieve my hip pain significantly! Furthermore, it aids soft-tissue injury recoveries!
  •  helps to prevent motion-sickness!
  • gives you LOTS of energy- get's me JACKED UP for work outs!

 Cashews:
  •  two handfuls are (supposedly) equivalent to one dose of prozac, according to 2008 documentary, "Food Matters"
  • restatement of bullet above: it acts as a MAJOR stress reliever!
Aloe:
  • can promote the healing of wounds! Heloooooo- anyone ever used aloe vera on a sunburn? Yeah, it helps a boatload!
Cinnamon:
  • claimed to have the ability to relieve indigestion
  • lowers blood glucose and lipid levels
  • some say it helps metabolize food as well
Maca:
  • acts as a hormonal balance which can affect mood, weight gaining or losing, aging, and stress on the body
  • eliminates sugar cravings- which we all know how bad those are!
  • energizes!

***Just remember, you are what you eat. The world's greatest cliche couldn't be any more true!***
